It’s rough out there. It’s rough in here too, finding the balance between fighting for what’s right and taking care of my own self (so I can keep fighting). And in that balance, sometimes one discovers the need to make a fairy village.
It all started with a video on Instagram, and a deep dive into this creator’s work. The blog is especially helpful for the best DIY supplies to use, and the youtube channel has some good inspo on it. We found a perfect patch of land behind our side yard, I took four children thrifting for supplies, then spent a week in Maine designing, building, and painting, and here we are in phase one of our village construction:
I hope you’re finding some hope too!

I love this! Reminds me of when my daughter was young - we’d go on hikes at Carkeek Park in Seattle, and she would find fairy houses in the woods, pretty little spots nestled into the base of trees. Now she’s 17, almost 18, and is a summer camp counselor, teaching all the littles how to find fairy houses.
So exciting! It was awesome seeing the groundbreaking last week. Can’t wait to come by and see the next phase. 💙🌈
